This program provides fundamental hands-on training in electrical circuits, wiring, and tool safety according to the Bangladesh National Qualification Framework (BNQF). Course Description

Developed by the National Skills Development Authority (NSDA) in collaboration with industry experts, this competency-based training program is designed to meet the growing demand for skilled electrical workers in the construction industry. The course ensures that trainees are equipped with the specific knowledge, skills, and attitudes required to perform effectively in a real-world workplace.

The program consists of 360 total nominal hours, which includes 340 hours of institutional learning and 20 hours of dedicated workplace visits.

Core Learning Modules

1. Generic Competencies (40 Hours)

·         Basic Mathematics: Performing computations for workplace requirements using standard numerical concepts.

·         Occupational Safety and Health (OSH): Mastering the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), reporting hazards, and responding to workplace emergencies.

·         Housekeeping Procedures: Implementing 5S principles to maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work area.

2. Sector-Specific Competencies (20 Hours)

·         Technical Interpretation: Learning to read and interpret construction drawings, architectural symbols, site plans, and manufacturer manuals.

3. Occupation-Specific Competencies (280 Hours)

·         Tools & Equipment: Safe operation and maintenance of electrical hand tools (pliers, strippers, wrenches) and power tools (drills, soldering irons).

·         Electrical Fundamentals: Understanding AC/DC concepts, calculating current/voltage using Ohm’s Law, and measuring quantities with multimeters and clip-on meters.

·         Fittings & Joints: Installing switchboards, junction boxes, and holders; and mastering various wire joints including Pigtail, Western Union, T-joints, and Married joints.

·         Circuit Installation: Practical training in installing and testing lamps (SPST/SPDT), calling bells, tube lights, and ceiling fans with regulators.

·         Channel Wiring: Advanced module on layout drawing, cutting and installing PVC channels, and performing final continuity and polarity tests.

Certification & Assessment

·         BNQF Level-1: Graduates are certified as Basic Skilled Workers, capable of performing simple tasks under direct supervision in structured environments.

·         Accredited Assessment: Competency is verified through written tests, practical demonstrations, and oral questioning by NSDA-certified assessors at accredited centers.

·         Employment Ready: Successful trainees are listed on the NSDA National Skills Portal, enhancing their visibility to potential employers.
