Course Description
Developed by the National Skills Development Authority (NSDA) in
coordination with the Light Engineering Industry Skills Council (LEISC), this
course provides a demand-driven approach to technical training. It is designed
to equip individuals with the precise knowledge, skills, and attitudes required
to perform effectively in the mobile repair industry.
The program spans a total of 360 nominal hours, focusing on
hands-on practical learning and workplace safety.
Core Learning Modules
1. Generic & Sector-Specific Competencies (45 Hours)
- Occupational
Safety and Health (OSH): Mastering safety signs, identifying workplace hazards (chemical,
electrical, etc.), and using Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) like ESD
wristbands and smoke absorbers.
- Tool
Identification:
Learning to select and maintain essential servicing tools, such as
precision screwdriver sets, PCB holders, and ultrasonic cleaners.
2. Occupation-Specific Competencies (315 Hours)
- Electrical
Fundamentals:
Applying basic concepts of electricity, measuring current (Amperage) and
voltage using multimeters and clip-on meters.
- Soldering
& De-soldering:
Professional techniques for joining wires and replacing components on
copper strip boards.
- Hardware
Servicing:
Step-by-step procedures for the disassembly and re-assembly of basic
mobile phones, including housing, displays, and mainboards.
- Component
Testing:
Identifying and testing critical parts such as resistors, transistors,
inductors, microphones, and charging ports.
- Software
Installation: Basic
concepts of flashing mobile phones, including the collection and
installation of drivers, flash tools, and firmware files.
