Step-Up Skill Development Academy launched the "Tailoring & Dress Making, Level-2" trade at Umkhali Karimiya Madrasa & Orphanage in Ramu, Cox's Bazar. Under the ILO ISEC Project funded by GAC, the initiative empowers 40 female madrasa graduates with BNQF-standard technical skills, starter learning kits, and an on-site production facility for sustainable employment.
On May 18, 2026, at 11:30 AM, Step-Up Skill Development Academy (SSD Academy) officially inaugurated the "Tailoring and Dress Making, Level-2" technical training program at the historic Umkhali Karimiya Madrasa and Orphanage in South Mithachhari, Ramu, Cox’s Bazar.
Implemented under the International Labour Organization’s (ILO) ISEC Project with financial support from Global Affairs Canada (GAC), the program is designed to deliver industry-standard technical training aligned with the Bangladesh National Qualifications Framework (BNQF). A dedicated cohort of 40 female Qawmi madrasa graduates will undergo comprehensive vocational instruction to prepare for modern employment and entrepreneurship.
To ensure long-term financial independence, SSD Academy and the ILO are establishing an on-site Sustainable Production Centre within the madrasa premises, creating a direct pathway from classroom learning to regular, independent earnings.
During the inaugural ceremony, trainees were equipped with primary learning materials, toolkits, and academic diaries. SSD Academy remains committed to advancing inclusive technical education and mainstreaming economic empowerment for madrasa graduates across Cox's Bazar.
